Wrapping This Up

After the ADVrally, the ride through Lost Canyon, and upon return to the campsite, I put the bike on the trailer.

The 690 carried me for 3,001 miles in the Rockies, UT, AZ, and CA. My estimate is that 85% of these miles we’re off pavement.

I really gained confidence with my first KTM and the 690’s amazing ability to get me through obstacles. I still do not know how I successfully got through many of them over the four month adventure.

I have experienced some limitations with the 690 in certain terrain; however, it is a very capable dual sport.

Satisfied with my adventures, and a bit sore after yesterday’s ride, it’s time to head back to TN.

Once there, I have some business to wrap-up and plan for next year’s adventure.

Thanks for following along in this blog.

Oops!

I guess it would be inevitable that the 690 would want to take a nap in the rocks.

We looked up at this climb and I asked if he wanted to ride to the top for a look-see. “Yeah, you awn to?” Of course I did!

With that, the Husky 450 blasted up the steep rocky trail.

My turn.

Never got the 690 settled after the three woops at the base. It seems as if I went from one ricochet to another when the last bounce put me on my left side.

This picture is right after I got the bike upright.

Los Pinos Waterfall

This waterfall, now overgrown with brush, is one of several waypoints collected during the secon and final day of riding at the Adventure Rally (Rockies Edition) in Gunnison, CO.

This one required passing through a closed gate and a 100 foot hike at the end of the trail.

Rally Commencement

Today is the first day of riding for the rally.

Breakfast was served at the rally Basecamp. After that maps and clue books were issued, we headed out to hit the destinations.

Rode about 140 miles for the day. Our NC friend rode with us.

We didn’t ride yesterday. Check-in for the rally was yesterday afternoon.

It’s Rained every afternoon since our arrival.
